Marks & Spencer to open 80 stores in India by 2016. British department store Marks & Spencer confirmed in a press release today plans for expansion in India and aims to open 80 stores by 2016. This news comes after the company’s financial results which were published last week and saw M&S’s ninth consecutive quarter of falling general merchandising sales. The expansion strategy is part of the company’s ongoing scheme to become ‘a leading international’ retailer, which was set in motion by company chief executive Mark Bolland in 2010.
